When he built the farmhouse, Laurent BAUD, who was a cabinet maker and a solicitor’s clerk, did not have the slightest idea that it would become an hotel.
It was his daughter Josette, a qualified head waiter, and her husband Marius THORENS, who turned the farm into a charming little hotel.
They opened La Chaumière in 1934, and the hotel’s quality improved as the years went by. Michel, their youngest son, opened the La Chamade restaurant, which became an important feature of gastronomy in the Morzine area. Their eldest son, Robert, took over the hotel in 1968 and rebuilt it in 1973.
Since 1986, Robert’s daughter Michèle and her husband Franck BLANCHI have taken over the management. With its 2-star rating, la Chaumière has kept its family atmosphere. The panelling and decorative woodwork in the lounge, designed and executed by Laurent BAUD, is a souvenir of the farm as it was, at the foot of the Nants.
We would like you to be able to share the cosy family atmosphere of La Chaumière.
